This is a reminder that our next ClayDay is just over 2 weeks away. Sue Heaser will demonstrate the Pietre Dure technique, which is a type of inlay using precious stones and is a speciality of Florence. It was developed during the 16th century. It is a sort of marquetry in coloured stones and adapts very well to polymer clay to create tiny pictures for jewellery, boxes and miniatures. It is relatively challenging and requires a steady hand. This is one of the techniques Sue presented at EuroSynergy this year. Details of what to bring are here. Later, Enid will demonstrate making findings in wire: clasps, jumprings and earwires. Finished pieces in polymer clay can be greatly enhanced, and given a more personal touch, if the findings are individually made rather than bought and mass produced. Above is a poster for the Wortham Victorian Christmas Market to be held on 5th December, where the Guild has a stall. If you would like your work to be included, you will need to bring your pieces to the November ClayDay, or get them to one of the committee members before the start of the event. You will need to complete a form, which can be downloaded below, and include it with your pieces. You can bring a maximum of 10 pieces, but, whether they are all displayed will depend on space and sales on the evening. If you have pieces to sell, we would like you to volunteer to man the stall for at least half an hour on the night. ![]()
