Please bring:
  • small round cutters
  • larger pendant cutters
  • a 30 cm ruler
  • straight blade
  • needle tool
  • clay veneer or cane

We have also agreed that members will demonstrate any ideas they have to making things using scrap clay. Our guild committee members have a few ideas on how to turn waste scrap clay into something beautiful! Please also feel free to demonstrate to the other members any other way you make use of scrap clay. By using up scrap clay you will save a lot of money on clay and not waste any.

ClayDay 27th January Report

3/3/2019

It was the first meet for 2019 and a great start to the year. Anne taught us how to make a ripple effect which has been simplified so it isn't too complicated. The cut using a ripple blade has to be 90 degrees and you will instantly get good results.
Picture
Picture
Picture
The effect gives you nice patterns and possibilities only limited to your imagination. Anne created many types of jewellery and items using this technique.
Picture
In the afternoon Shelley shows us how to make her famous fairy doors. Using simple sculpting techniques to achieve a realistic door in mini form. You can also decorate it with flowers, moss or even leaves. Texturing and shading the wood and stone add depth and realism.
Picture
Picture
We are glad that some members tried it out even though they are not used to making sculptures. A lot of fairies and little mice will be getting a pleasant surprise.
Picture
We also saw members most recent makes. There is some serious talent in the guild!
Picture
Picture
We had all of our usual tables, clay for sale as well as 'trash to treasure'. Some lucky members won some gifts during the raffle and we would like to thank everyone who donated prizes.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and if you have missed out, remember to catch the next one!

ClayDay 4th November Report

16/12/2018

We had a full day workshop with an instructor on our last ClayDay of the year. Everyone was taught how to make these floating pendants by Jude Parker. First we had to create a 'support' using scrap clay.
Picture
Then cover it with a sheet of Skinner gradient blend.
Picture
Jude had also demonstrated a gradient colour blend, from light to dark and how to make little ruffles to decorate our pieces with it.
Picture
All of us had a go with our own geometric shapes in varied sizes and Skinner blend colours. The results are absolutely delightful! Many thanks to Jude who was very patient in teaching us on how to make these beautiful pendants.
Picture
Even though it was a workshop day with a special guest, that doesn't mean that the usual ClayDay activities weren't available. There were all of our usual tables displaying members' recent makes, raffle, tool library and sale of cheap clay.
Picture
It is always nice to see various items that were hand-made by our talented members.

That wraps up Anglian Polymer Clay Guild's ClayDay for 2018! This was probably one of the guild's best year and we hope it will be even better for 2019 so make sure you mark your calendars:
